Winter Warm-Up: Blankets That Are Sure to Keep San Franciscans Nice & Toasty This January

If you already live in San Francisco

09 Jan 2018

If you already live in San Francisco or have spent any extended amount of time here whatsoever, chances are you know that January is usually the coldest month on the calendar (great way to kick off the new year, right?).

During a typical January day in San Francisco, the average high usually falls somewhere between 55 and 59 degrees Fahrenheit, which might not seem all that bad on the surface, but also consider that the average low tends to drop down into the mid-to-high 40s, which can certainly feel quite chilly, especially if you’re close to the waterfront.

Even through much of February and March, temps usually remain in the high 40s on the low end just over 60 on the high end, and it isn’t until May or June that we finally see a slight warm-up and temperatures jump up into the mid-to-high 60s.

So if you’re looking for a way to warm up this January, take a look at just some of the amazing blankets and quilts we found on Instagram that may look good in your San Francisco home or condo!

Wool Hugs

If you’re looking for something bold; something thick; and definitely something that will keep you nice and toasty all season long, look no further than the chunky knit blankets Wool Hugs have to offer. Clearly, the image says it all…

Tartan Blanket Co

If it’s a softer throw blanker you’re after, or maybe even a nice, warm scarf, check out the current offerings over at Tartan Blanket Co— one of our favorite brands for all things staying warm. The quality is amazing, and they’re also known for their lightning fast shipping too!

Berkshire Blanket & Home Co.

Honestly, if you can’t find comfort in Berkshire Blanket’s recent Instagram post (seen below), I can’t help you. Does that not look like the warmest bed ever? And why does it look so warm and cozy, you ask?? Because of the Berkshire blanket featured, of course!

Nested Quilt Co.

Specializing in quilts for your little ones, Nested Quilt Co.’s Instagram feed was so precious, we just couldn’t stand to leave it off our list. So if you have a newborn and you’re looking to keep him or her nice and warm, check out their awesome selection of crib quilts that all seem to have a rather soothing look and feel.

Baby G

Based right here in San Francisco, Baby G sells some petty awesome handmade blankets that are made from only organic materials. Prices are also pretty reasonable, and each blanket definitely looks cozy enough to handle even the chilliest of nights here in the Bay area.

Tranquil Goods

Wool blankets AND wool slippers??? Yes, please! Sure, the throw blankets from Tranquil Goods are pretty sweet, but even if you aren’t shopping around for a new blanket at the moment, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a pair of their ultra-comfy (and ultra-warm) wool slippers. Your feet will thank you later.
